Our LVL Lash Lift is a revolutionary eyelash treatment which is designed to lift your natural lash at the root, creating the effect of longer, lifted lashes. With immediate results lasting between 6 and 8 weeks, it is the perfect treatment for people with a low maintenance beauty regimen, busy lifestyle, allergies and hay fever, or just those who want to make the most of their natural eyelashes!
The structure of a single hair is made up of three parts: the hair cuticle, the cortex and the medulla. When the lifting balm is applied during the LVL treatment, the hydrogen comes into contact with the air and oxidises. This creates a chemical process which breaks down the disulphate bonds in each hair, allowing them to move into a new shape. The next step is applying the volumising fix, which reforms the disulphate bonds into their new shape, which is long and lifted with maximum volume!
This new shape of the eyelashes takes up to 48 hours for the disulphate bonds to lock into place and cure, which is why it is important to emphasise to follow the correct aftercare for 48 hours post-treatment. Once the lashes get hot or wet, they will fall back into their alpha-keratin (natural) state and the lift will drop.
Many of our education and training team are hair and beauty experts with years of experience working in the industry, and therefore understand and emphasis to all students how the lashes on your eyes are just as important as the hair on your head. For example, you wouldn’t spend a large amount of money on a cut, colour and style in a salon, and then not invest in quality products to maintain healthy hair. When retailing this to your clients think of our Lash and Lid Foaming Cleanser as the ‘shampoo’ for their lashes, and our Lash and Brow Conditioning Serum as the ‘conditioner’.
IT’S BEEN A COUPLE OF WEEKS SINCE MY TREATMENT AND MY LASHES LOOK CRISS-CROSSED OVER EACH OTHER, WHY IS THIS?
Our lash life cycle lasts around 22 weeks, and includes the Anogen phase, where the hair is still connected to a blood supply, the Catagen phase, where the hair disconnects from the blood supply and starts transitioning to the next stage, and finally the Telogen phase, where the hair is at its full length and ready to drop out naturally.
This can take 14 weeks. As each hair follicle is at a different stage in the lash life cycle and growing at a different rate, some new eyelashes, which may not have been exposed to the LVL process will not have been cured into shape like the others, causing them to appear to be crossing over others. This is why it is important to take before and after photos of your work.
MY CLIENT SAYS THEY HAVE BEEN LOSING LASHES MORE RAPIDLY SINCE THE TREATMENT, HAVE I DONE SOMETHING WRONG?
Not at all! It’s natural to lose between 2-6 lashes from each eye every day. We have explained the full lash cycle, and why your clients may be worried they are losing excessive lashes here.
MY CLIENT HAS COME BACK SAYING THEIR LASHES HAVE DROPPED, BUT THEY FOLLOWED THE CORRECT AFTERCARE?
It is important to make sure they do not get their lashes wet at all in the first 24 hours’ post-treatment, and no steam for 48 hours. Alongside the obvious steam rooms and saunas, things like steam coming out from a hot kettle, opening a hot oven, hair dryers and cooking in general can cause the lashes to drop, so make sure you pass this information on to your clients.
SOME CLIENTS HAVE A LIFT THAT LASTS 8 WEEKS, BUT SOME ONLY LAST 6, WHY IS THIS?
Again, the lash life cycle plays a big part in this. Factors that can speed this cycle up are a quick metabolism, using lash serums, pregnancy, puberty, menopause, medication and a healthy lifestyle.
